The Hon Damien O’Connor was first elected to Parliament in 1993 and has subsquently being re-elected to 11 Parliaments to date., He has served  as a Minister in both the fifth and sixth Labour Governments, and spokesperson in Opposition in a variety of roles, including Foreign Affairs, Land Information, Trade, and Transport alongside being a Member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Select Committee.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, the Hon Damien O’Connor worked in a variety of jobs in farming, sales, and tourism and owned and operated adventure tourism company Buller Adventure Tours.
